BEST BEACH FOR YOUR WEDDING?
Alright, I’m going to be honest. (I think I’m too honest on here!) There’s no such thing as the best beach wedding venue. What may be best for you, may be horrible for my next client, and so on. It’s safe to say, the best beach really depends on what you value most.
But, I bet you’re wondering what I think is the best beach. Because, you know, I’m full of opinions.
Well, I love beaches that are wide, secluded, face the west shore, and have lots of parking. Let’s break this down:
- WIDE – Wide beaches mean that tourists are not going to be bunched up in one spot. It also means that I can take wide-sweeping landscape shots that look pretty awesome.
- SECLUDED – I don’t like busy backgrounds, whether that means tourists, locals, or even buildings. The less concrete the better, right? Yeah, and I don’t like homeless in the shots.
- WEST-FACING SHORES – The wind blows in from the east, so any east-facing shore has a higher chance of rain, stormy clouds, and strong wind. Wind, by the way, is tough to deal with. It will dictate which way you walk, how you can wear your hair, and how well you can record audio. If there is an antagonist to all things weddings, it’s wind. I can deal with rain. Strong wind is the devil.
- LOTS OF PARKING – I hate showing up to a beach and waiting for a good parking space, or even a parking space at all. If the parking is crowded, it means the beach is crowded. Can you imagine showing up with 20 guests and they all have to find parking? It’s not good.
So, where can you find my great locations? Not on my website, that’s for sure! If I post it here, my competitors will find it, and then it won’t be secluded anymore.
I guess that counts as secluded

Now, I’m going on repeat here. Don’t worry, I’m not going crazy like Biden. But what I feel is the best may not be the best for you. I do a lot of weddings and vow renewals at Magic Island. I don’t care for that place. It can get crowded, there are homeless there, and a guy in speedos always ends up in the background of one of my shots, which is not cool. That’s more Photoshop work! Ugh. But Magic Island is really convenient for a lot of couples since it’s close to Waikiki, so it’s the best for that couple. And, I’ll do my darn best to get great shots there.

At Magic Island, minus the men in speedos.
So, how do you find the best location for your wedding? Well, of course, you gotta hire me. Then I can present you with some options, the pros, the cons, and so forth. And you can make the executive decision, and I’ll follow your lead.
