The story behind this blog, well, it started out purely about Hawaii weddings, then it evolved into everything and all of the above. Basically, ITS MY BLOG!! So I write about anything on here. I updated this blog "alomost" on a daily basis. You can learn more about me, my quirks, my style, and of course, you'll get wedding tips here.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Well...Merry almost Christmas that is

Hey there everyone. Well, lets get the first important news out of the way. The Eagles are still in the hunt for the playoffs and if we win on Christmas against the Cowboys, your "Weddding Guy" will be a very "Happy Guy." On other news....

OUR STATE RETAIL TAX WILL BE RAISED TO 4.7%
Our good ol beaurecrats have decided to raise our tax by .5% in an attempt to help pay for a rail transit system that will most likely not solve our traffic problem, but ruin an already busy sky line. While a .5% tax incease may not sound like a lot, we are the only state to carry over our tax from the wholesaler. So products and services get taxed on several levels before it reaches the consumer resulting up a 16% increase in price. Usually, the retail tax is only applied at the retail level. So, what this means that starting January, if you do book for your wedding in 2007, I'll have to tax you just a little more to satisfy the socialist republic of Hawaii....

Also, traveler beware, starting January 1st, our government will hike gas prices up 11 cents by raising the State gas tax 11 cents. It's funny because our government kept complaining on how Chevron makes 6 cents on a gallon so our state "Had to" inact price-caps to control the gas companies profits. Why not put a gas-cap on the taxes of gas. They profit 500% more than gas companies!!

ARE PRICES GOING TO CHANGE FOR 2007?
This I'm not really sure of. Our limo prices have stayed the same despite gas prices sky rocketing because of competition. But I do believe, if anything, we will raise our packages at most around 50 dollars if anything. IF, I do...big if....

REGARDING PHOTOGRAPHY, WILL I GO DIGITAL?
Not yet. I'm still not confident in digital photography yet. I've tried shooting with digital cameras, and I just don't feel confident in it for the following reasons:

  • RELIABILITY - We've all had our computers crash, not to mention our hard drives. Well, I've seen memory cards fail during weddings, erasing all memories, and it really sucked for the bride. With film, this really can't happen because once film is exposed, it can't be rewritten. Even if a film back is opened by accident, that will only result in the loss of 2 to 3 lost pictures, not all 36. Also, when a digital camera fails, you can't hear it...when a film camera fails, you can hear it as there are actual moving parts in there that break.
  • CONSISTENCY - You really can't use a light meter with a digital pictures and you ALWAYS have to touch up each photo. If you're just a little off with your lighting, you will either get a dark photo or a washed out photo. With film, once you get your lighting measurements down, you really don't have to be that accurate with it from there on out. It takes a lot of over exposer to wash out a film photo to be honest. Yes, there have been weddings where I thought that one or two pictures would be completley white because I completley over exposed it, just to find out that the lab was able to print it perfectly!!!
  • I JUST LIKE THE LOOK - To me, digital can look a little too sharp, so, it can look rather fake. Film looks sharp, but doesn't look sharp. It's rather strange, but I tihnk you know what I mean.

Okay! So for a new wedding of the week.

Take a look at Pam and Greg!!!

They have thier own website that they put together that has a lot of hepful informatoin, and a great plug for yours truly, the "Wedding Guy" not "Wedding Planner!" Pam and Greg sealed their wedding November 9th of this year out at Ko'Olina. Both were a joy to really talk to, and like all my wedding couples, I established a great friendship with them from planning to the day of their wedding.

And here's that link to that great website: www.gregadkins.com

Hey, how's that FILM photo!!!! Pretty cool huh. Don't ask me how the photo got a pink tinge to it. Something chemical in the air made it like that. I think it was vog....Volcanic fog.... Another plus to film. Chemicals in the air, ALWAYS, make photos look different and cool.
Lastly, Merry Christmas everyone! May all your wishes come true and let your love flourish during the holidays. And dont' forget...to pray for my Eagles on Christmas Day!!

Westbrook plans to run over Dallas on Christmas!!!
