Aloha and welcome to our Recent Wedding Page, or what I like to call it, my company blog. This is where I get to write about my most recent weddings. I'll post as often as I can about each wedding, and a little off-topic wedding blogs as well (Just to keep it interesting). Couples have told me that they love this part of my site the best as they tend to get to know about me and my company more from my postings. Don't forget to call us if you're interested in our services at 1-800-557-1310 or email us at info@dreamweddingshawaii.com
PICTURE PERFECT....SEWAGE....
A MUST READ FOR COUPLES HEADING TO OAHU IN APRIL!!So the weather has been picture perfect. Our trade winds are back, the skies are blue, and the temperature has been a steady 85 degrees. Picture perfect yes...BUT, don't go in the water off Waikiki. Yes, DON'T GO IN THE WATER OFF OF WAIKIKI. That includes Ala Moana Beach, Magic Island, and down the coast to Waikiki. Don't even play in the sand near these beaches as they are highly contaminated!!! THE REASON?Well, during the storms the sewer system in Waikiki failed and the City actually decided to dump raw sewage into the Ala Wai Canal, a canal that leads directly to the ocean. The result, a highly polluted beach and ocean 1000 times the norm. The City and State were very slow in putting warning signs up on the beach, and people have been getting sick. Just recently, a young 30 year old man, fell into the Ala Moana Harbor and contracted the flesh eating virus. The Department of Health came out and said that there is no connection between the flesh eating virus and the sewage spill and rise in sickness, which have been proven to be bacteria associated with fecal matter. So that leads me to believe one or two things: They are complete idiots over there, or not warning the public about the contamination was purely a move to save tourism. A spokesman for the department of health actually came on the news and said that the contanmination could have been caused by a bird crapping in the ocean. Oh.....but what about the 40 million tons of raw sewage that they poured in there....nah....that has nothing to do with it. Click here to go to the article on the man whose fighting for his life from falling into the contaminated water. They already amputated a leg of his. The doctors said they may have to cut off all of his limbs to save him. That's really really sad. Anyway, the trick here is to not go into the water off of Waikiki, or to go on the sand on the beach until the month of May. If you do that, you should be a.o.k.
A WALK TO REMEMBER
MOVIE REVIEW!!!So this is not only a wedding blog, a personal blog, but now, I will make it a movie blog by adding a little post on one of the worse movies I had ever seen, A WALK TO REMEMBER. Actually I really liked this movie, but because it made cry, I don't like it. And men, these tears weren't the type of tears I got when John Elway finally won the superbowl, these were sad tears. So because this movie haunted me in the back of my head for days upon days, I hate it. Movies really don't have an affect on me emotionally. But this movie really got to me. Anyway, I thought I would watch it again in hopes that I would cancel out my sadness, afterall, if you watch action or comedy flicks too much, they grow stale. Why wouldn't a sad movie go stale? Well it didn't. So I'm left with my last option...to watch the latest Mandy Moore movie that's coming out to cheer me up. See, Mandy Moore stars in A WALK TO REMEMBER as well.....seeing her in a fun movie versus a depressing movie, should cancel out everything in this little brain of mine. By the way, if you have not seen this movie, go out and rent it. It will change the way you look at your life, others...everyone.
This is an official picture from the movie "A Walk to Remember." This shows that even Hollywood doesn't know how to shoot a romantic shot. What's wrong? Mandy Moore's chin is behind her shoulder. Their faces are a little too close together. Those are the minor flaws in this picture. I'm a lot more bothered by their hands. Look at her hands and fingers...they are not embracing his (is Mandy flashing a gang sign?) His other hand has a vice grip on hers as well. you can tell that they are only actors pretending to be in love from this shot. Not the best shot. Hollwood should have hired me!!!
North Shore Beach Wedding and more....
THE AND MORE PART....Well, before I begin on the usual wedding blog, let me first get a few things off my chest. First of all...to everyone who has been sending me "belated bithday wishes" thank you very much! I really do appreciate it. Twenty-nine, that's a really big number for me, and turning this age is actually quite stunning. A groom who recently booked with my company, told me not to worry about twenty-nine, it's thirty that's the big number. From what I've heard though is that thirty is the new twenty, and forty is the new thirty as people are living longer and the world is just a much different place that it was a few decades ago. I also think age is also a maturity thing and not a number. I've met fifty year olds who have the maturity of an eighteen year old; those who are not living responsibly, not investing, and unemployed...And I've met twenty year olds who have the maturity of a forty year old; those who posses an incredible knowledge of politics, who are business savy, and who live very responsibly. I'm much of the latter person. I remember hanging out with forty year olds when I was in my mid-twenties. By that age, I actually had two tv shows in Japan, ran a video production company in Hawaii that secured the television production for the all of the hotels on Oahu. It was quite an exciting time to say the least. While most of people my age were out clubbing, I opted instead to sit on the porch and talk about about politics, investing, and business. Now that I'm twenty-nine, I've downsized my operations tremendously. I have this wedding company, I still have my video production company, and I just opened up a high-end Kona Coffee Company. I'm very excited to what the next two years will hold for me, but whether I make or lose money, it's going to be a lot of fun. SO LETS TALK ABOUT THE WEATHERNow I do realize that you have been hearing a lot about the rain here in Hawaii. Do you realize that it's been raining for over 40 days and 40 nights! The rain has been bad at times, but not Noah's Ark end-of-times bad. Though, in all of my 29 years of living in Hawaii, I have never seen a storm system like this hit the islands before. Our weather has been freaky. Why just yesterday we woke up to a huge storm system, just to have blue skies at 2:00pm. By that time though, everything from roads to Kahala Mall were flooded. Look at the theaters at a popular mall!
I can't believe this tree fell down...I rode bike by here a lot!
Geez, that sucks...thank god it's not a nice car.
While the weather has been pretty bad at times, the entire island is not flooded. In fact, most of Oahu is still okay. I wouldn't say what you're hearing in the news is hype. But only 10% of the island is flooded. And by the second day, everything is usually a.o.k. It's nothing like New Orleans. My house, well, since I live basically above the waterline, we're not victims to any flooding. But about a couple miles down the road, they really get to feel God's wrath when it floods. Luckily, I have not had any weddings during the really bad portion of the storm. In fact, I have no weddings will the 10th of April. For some reason, I have tremendous luck when it comes to weather. So for all of my couples out there....don't sweat it, we'll have good weather for you.
NOW ONTO THE WEDDING!!!! James and Deanna May 17, 2005
Okay, well, this story is rather funny. Deanna had called up my company once before to inquire about using our services. She had no idea that I actually knew her fiance, James. See, James handles my parents investment portfolio, and is quite good at it. A few months had passed and when I bumped into James, he told me he was getting married. He mentioned Deanna, and her name at that time, didn't really ring a bell...but when I gave Deanna a call shortly after, we both remembered talking to each other a few months before. Deanna was looking to get married at Turtle Bay, and the package that they were putting together for her was looking rather expensive given that there would only be a few people attending. As always, I hammered out a wedding package that was perfect for their budget.

We had originally planned to have their wedding at Kawela Bay, or as I like to call it, "Secret Cove at Turtle Bay," but it actually flooded the day before. So James decided to move the wedding to a vacation rental on the beach. Everything went perfect. Deanna arrived in a limo, and James, was ready to tied the knot. Like always, there was a sense of nervousness and love in the air as the happy couple made it through their vows. When it came time for picture taking, we had nothing but great weather. Lighting conditions were rather unique so I actually had the opportunity to pull off some awesome shots.
