Hey there! So you found the most interesting page on my site. This is my recent Oahu wedding, Hawaii wedding, and...well..lets be honest, it's a blog. The story behind this blog, well, it started out purely about Hawaii weddings, then it evolved into everything and all of the above. Basically, ITS MY BLOG!! So I write about anything on here. I updated this blog "alomost" on a daily basis. You can learn more about me, my quirks, my style, and of course, you'll get wedding tips here. Call me if you want to make me richer..I mean, book my services! 1-877-WED-IN-HAWAII or email me at info@dreamweddingshawaii.com
Scott and Yvonne Norman - A deck wedding
GREAT WEATHER, GREAT WEDDING on a deck
So this is really strange. But throughout my eight years in the wedding industry. I have never...ever attended, planned, or photographed a wedding that took place on the deck or patio of a beach house. Isn't that strange? We'll..this was my first. Unfortunately, I forgot to scan a picture of the deck, but it was a really really nice one. You had to watch your step and to make sure you didn't drag your feet or else you would get splinters...but other than that, it was perfect.
The other really strange thing about this wedding is that it took place on the same beach where I shoot a lot of weddings! And I didn't know it! See, I plan a lot of weddings at Kawela Bay, or what I like to call it, Secret Cove at Turtle Bay. I always wondered what it would be like to photograph a wedding at the houses on the very left of Kawela Bay, and guess what...I got my opportunity!
The entire family and Scott and Yvonne were great; warm, cheerful, laid-back, everything one could ask for. This wedding was a rather rush job though as we did get the call to perform his wedding about a week out. The wedding was very "cute." Yvonne, was escorted to the alter by her two sons while her family sang "Here comes the bride." The ceremony though was very very romatic with tears coming from both Scott and Yvonne. I'm happy we could piece everything together for them. Scott and Yvonne are both from Florida. Scott probably has the coolest job a guy could get. He drives a backhoe and breaks things up for a living. And I thought I had a cool job. Lets hope that Scott's construction friends don't read this and tease him for crying at his wedding. I'll just end this blog on one note. The fact is, at most of my weddings, the men cry more often than the women.....
PRO BOWL WEDDING - Ken and Melanie Wiles
We'll, it was one week from the superbowl, and Hawaii was invaded by professional football players. They were everywhere: Waikiki, Ko'Olina, the North Shore...you name it. Everyone was in the football spirit, and it just so happened, so was our couple, Ken and Melanie Wiles. I always love a good conversation about football, and when Ken told me that he was the owner of the Mustard Seed sports Bar in Seattle, I knew it would be a good day. The day's leading up to Melanie and Ken's wedding the weather started to pour like you wouldn't believe. Even on the day of their wedding, Waikiki to Ko'Olina was completely soaked. There wasn't any end to any storm cloud. To make things worse, the Ihilani, had closed down their property to NFL players so we couldn't access Lanikohuna, or as we like to call it "Secret Cove at Ko'Olina." I guess there were too many paparazzi around the Ihilani for the last few days. Thinking quickly, I recommended that we move their wedding down the coastline where we could hopefully find better weather.I picked the nearest coastline beach that would allow them to get back to their Paradise Luau. Our luck paid off. The weather was clear and the beach was great. I may think about doing weddings here a lot more often because of it's large wide open beaches.
One thing that made Melanie's wedding rather unique was her bouque, which inorporated her mother's bible.
EAGLES LOST THE SUPERBOWL :(
I sat there this Sunday stunned but with my head up high. Even though we didn't play our best game, we still had a great year. And we played the Patriots extremely well despite making 3 turnovers. Hey, I still love my Eagles. They're a great team, great organization, and I'm looking forward to next year.
To all my brides who are Patriots fans, great game! Really! Wow, what a dynasty. To all my Eagles brides, we have to keep our heads up high! We can get here again next year! I really believe both teams will be back next year in the superbowl.
My next wedding is happening on February 12, this coming Saturday. So my next udpate will most likely be on monday or so. I've been writing a handful of wedding articles that I'll post as soon as I finsih them. Alright all! I'll talk to you all soon. I'm going to get some rest.
Not related to weddings at all....
SUPERBOWL WEEKEND!!!
We'll it's February 1st and we are currently five days away from Superbowl Sunday and I can't wait. As many of my colleagues know, I am a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan. And I've been one since the 7th grade when I first saw Randall Cunningham toss a 80 yard bomb on the run. It was probably the most amazing thing I had ever seen in my entire life!
No, I don't have any weddings booked for this week Sunday. It's a funny thing but this happens every year. We don't have one wedding on the weekends leading up to the superbowl and on superbowl Sunday. We've had a few inquiries, but when we told our couples that they were booking their wedding on Superbowl Sunday, the bride said, "Oh no! I can't do that!!!"
A handful of my brides are from Philadelphia and we've been emailing each other uplifting thoughts concerning the Eagles (like any diehard Eagles fan should).
One my ministers, Pastor Steve Murphy, is from Boston and a diehard Patriots fan. It's really funny to hear a pastor call me up to trash talk for 10 minutes on the phone on "How the Patriots are going to school the Eagles!" I told him jokingly that it's not fair that he has God on his side.
Our next wedding to date is planned on February 12th, 2005. So we will most likely not be updating this site with any new weddings unless we get one of those last minute calls. During this downtime it's been great. We've bought new lenses for our cameras, a new laptop, and have been working on a handful of new wedding articles for couples to read. BE ON THE LOOK OUT!
Oh, by the way, Rick Bingales surprise vow reknewal is online.
