Our Past Weddings...

Aloha and welcome to our Recent Wedding Page, or what I like to call it, my company blog. This is where I get to write about my most recent weddings. I'll post as often as I can about each wedding, and a little off-topic wedding blogs as well (Just to keep it interesting). Couples have told me that they love this part of my site the best as they tend to get to know about me and my company more from my postings. Don't forget to call us if you're interested in our services at 1-800-557-1310 or email us at info@dreamweddingshawaii.com

O Canada!!!!

Deneka and Jeff's Wedding May 7, 2005 Magic Island

So here's another Canadian couple. I swear, you Canadian's must love our warm warm WARM sunny HOT Hawaii weather. I'll tell you something funny. At one point, I shot so many Canadian weddings, I began to actually pick up their accent. Not the "Aye's" but the a-boots. Oh yeah, that even surprised me. It's a-boot time. I love shooting Canadian weddings though. I haven't met one rude Canadian couple yet. I even shot a very nice French Canadian couple. Can you believe it?!!!

Okay so onto their wedding. Deneka decided that she wanted her magical day to be at Magic Island. There was a small mixup in the beginning of the wedding. My minister and I were waiting at our usual meeting spot at Magic Island, and out couple, was on the other side of the park. They finally found us after walking around the park a few times. To be honest, this is the 1st time we ever had trouble find out couple. I didn't help that they didn't have a cell phone. So brides...always bring a cell phone with you :)

Their wedding went well. It was a civil wedding, with a Hawaiian mixture. So there was no mention of any type of god in there. We did though include a lot of traditions, such as your usual vows, ring exchange, and the sharing of breathes, which is purely a Hawaiian thing.

So how in the world did the sky turn purple and blue? No filter's here. The true answer is "I have no idea." See, here's the cool thing about film over digital. Light, chemicals, humidity, has a strange affect on colors in film. You really never know what type of colors you're going to get, all you know it's going to be cool. You may try for a darker blue, but somehow, because there is a volcanic dust in the air, it'll turn out purple, blue and red, which is probably what happened here. But I'm not 100% sure. Digital picture, well, you'll just get a regular blue sky, dull and low contrast. What do you do then, touch it up in photoshop, and then...you get a fake picture. Film is real.... :)

Magic Island, you know, this location is a pretty good place. It's in town. I can get great pictures here. The sunsets are great. There are palm trees. The cons, well, there are quite a bit of people around. There are homeless people here and there (even though they are far away). Think of it as a Hawaiian Central Park. But it's far better than Waialae Beach Park, trust me. I know you see a lot of wedding companies going there....forget going there. It's not a nice park. If you really want tropical, secluded...you do need to get far away from Waikiki. Around town, Magic Island, is one of my favorites.
