NOVEMBER UPDATE... :)
So what's new for November.
GAS PRICES...
Gas is about $2.64 per gallon and dropping here. At one point, it was about $3.60. But don't count on it staying that way. Any week, it could balloon up or down a few 20 to 40 cents. The reason, well, we have this very very ludicrous communist law here called a gas cap. Basically it limits our refineries to a maximum markup based upon the average cost of gas on the mainland. Well, it doesn't make much sense because all of our oil is from Indonesia or Mexico and we have two refineries here...so why are we basing our prices on what the mainland is doing. So, we literally get 10 to 40 cent price jumps week to week and gas stations are really hurting.
THE WEATHER...
It's been raining quite a bit here. It is Hurricane season, but that doesn't necessarily mean we're getting more hurricanes. Because the water around our islands are cooler, most hurricanes break up into storms. So, instead of the high winds, we just get a lot of rain. Never fear though, there are always blue skies somewhere on the island. Even now, it tends to only rain in CERTAIN areas. November-December Brides, you're pretty much safe.
HOTEL OCCUPANCY
The hotels are actually a lot emptier than the summer months. This year has been a record year for our state. I believe they have cleared 2 billion dollars in revenue for the year, which is a record, but still pretty small to Exxon's 14 billion dollars profit in one quarter..haha. I think the hotels should get into the oil business. If you're looking for a good budget hotel on the beach, check out THE NEW OTANI. I'm getting no points for recommending them, it's just a good cheap hotel on the beach.
WEDDINGS ANYONE?
Weddings are usually slow during this time of year compared to the spring and summer months. Everyone tends to be focusing on school, or family vacation plans, and everyone, including myself, braces for Christmas. Every future or current future bride though, should start planning now for 2006. The reason, firstly, cheap fares for the airlines. Book early, save more. Secondly, if you are booking any paying location for next year summer time, now is a great time to inquire to put your name on the waiting list. Lastly, summer is always crazy, and if you really need to get your wedding date secured now is the time to start locking in times.
As far as my prices go...I will not be raising them in 2006. You have my word. I will have the usual travel fee for certain far away locations. But other than that, everything will stay basically the same. I will not switch to digital photography!!!!
Well, that's about all for my update. Hey since things are slow, maybe I can finally catch up on updating all of my weddings!! Ugghh..homework...haha.
Talk to you all soon :)
